Speaking of Salad
A new UCLA study has found that elementary schools can significantly increase the frequency of fruit and vegetable consumption among low-income students by providing a lunch salad bar.
Fruits and vegetables help with weight management and can also be beneficial in reducing the risk of certain cancers, heart disease, stroke and Type 2 diabetes.
Babyboy has started eating salad at school. Sometimes he eats a whole salad and nothing else, other times he gets a salad along with a sandwich. I’m very proud of him. He tried it on his own.
As a dressing, he uses ketchup, which is fine by me. He brought me a package of the dressing offered and it has 14 grams of fat! That’s too much for dressing. Let him have the ketchup.
