I made spaghetti sauce yesterday. I’ve been craving it for at least a week. As a rule, I make a pretty good pot of sauce. A little onion, garlic, basil, oregano, thyme, bay leaf. Tomatoes. All simmered for a few hours.
It came out tasting very – odd. Not necessarily bad, just odd. We like our tomato sauce on the sweet side. One problem though:
There’s no sugar in the house. So I put in 3 packete of sweet n low. Tasted. Added 2 more packets. Let it simmer some more. Taste. Yech. Add honey. Better, but not my usual masterpiece.
I wonder if it’s the honey? I am also out of basil, and it’s definitely missing that.
Leave it to me to goof up spaghetti sauce!
I might turn it into chili.
