The other half discovered the Tofu yesterday. It’s not like it’s not right there in plain site, I didn’t hide it. Just goes to show you how often and how deep the other half gets in the fridge. The tofu is in the door, for pete’s sake.
Anyway, he picks up the plastic bag (I moved it to a ziplock) and he gingerly picks it up with 2 fingers – this is a grown man, mind you – and says:
“what the hell is this?”
“It’s cheese” I say.
“but in water?” he says.
“It’s a special low fat cheese and keeping it in water will keep it moist.” How’s that for quick thinking? Apparently he’s never seen nor had fresh mozzerella in his lifetime. The *real* fresh mozzerella. Just made, still warm, melt in your mouth, fresh mozzerella.
But I digress.
Now, I’m a tofu newbie, and I have no idea whether it should be kept in water or not. When I moved it over to a baggie I just dumped the whole kit and kaboodle in. I really haven’t used much of it so far. I don’t even know how long it will last.
On another note, I discovered babyboy ate a whole box of veggie burgers. I don’t keep all of the veggie burger stuff in boxes- when I get it home I get rid of the boxes – they would freak, turn blue and their teeth would fall out if they realized they weren’t eating meat. I left the veggie burgers in the box because I figured no one else in the family would touch them. I guess babyboy showed me!
