Cholesterol and Exercise

I’m walking proof that exercise helps lower the bad cholesterol and raises the good cholesterol.

I haven’t been exercising since the last time I saw the doc – I have a hurting shoulder so figured I would stop for awhile and see if this helped it. It didn’t, and of course haven’t been exercising. Now he’s sending me to an orthopedic guy – he’s diagnosed me with deltoid tendonitis, and said it’s probably calcified since I’ve let it go. (I’m one of those people that thinks ailments will go away on their own.)

I went to the doctor in April, had some bloodwork done and good cholesterol was higher. Now it’s reversed. Boo! He asked me what changed. The only thing that has changed is the exercise. My eating hasn’t changed – I’ve lost 65 pounds, so that’s something.

He wanted to put me on drugs but I argued with him on that. We’ve decided to watch my numbers, and I’m going to resume exercise and see if it helps.

The only exercise I can really tolerate is weight bearing exercises, like the 12 Minute Workout. I was trying to increase that (by going up a whole pound) and that’s when the shoulder really started bugging me. I don’t include the exercise bike because frankly, being on that sucker a couple of minutes a day isn’t doing all that much.

Just going for a walk kills me. It’s too hot to do so I wait for cooler weather, which ain’t saying much for this area. I also want to get a mini trampoline – this is supposed to help with Lymphedema and it’s something I’ve wanted to try.
