We went swimming tonight. For me, it was the first time in years – so long I can’t say for sure – but I think it’s at least 20 years.
Man, that makes me feel old.
We were there for just over an hour – I did a bunch of goofing off – not ready to do laps though I did go across the pool a couple of times. Let’s see. To my son’s great amusement I:
Ran back and forth in the shallow end. Raced him as well.
Did a bouncy ball kind of thing (you know – the big balls kids bounce on that have a handle?) Kind of like a continuous
squat back and forth.
Regular swimming – both on my back and breast stroke.
Did a lot of kicking.
I was surprised to find that I was sore afterwards. My back, arms and legs. Goes to show where I really need it.
And starting tomorrow, I start working. I put in exactly one application, since there was nothing in the paper. I was hired at a restaraunt that’s walking distance from me – in case my car breaks down.
It’s a private country club that serves breakfast and lunch, and dinner 2 nites a week, along with catering functions. But, most importantly, the job is primarily day hours, although I’ll most likely be working weekends. And, the night work is only till 9 – so I can deal with that. The place is big so I should be getting a good amount of exercise.
If I start out part time, I won’t be complaining. It’s been ten years since I waitressed.
