Feeding Yourself on Three Bucks a Day
Here’s an interesting challenge. Can you feed yourself – low carb – on 3 dollars a day?
Not that I’m going to try it, mind you, but it does raise questions. I believe if I was single, I probably could.
In the beginning of this diet, I at first thought I was spending a ton of money, but I think it evens out.
I buy oatmeal, rice and beans in bulk, which saves a boatload of money (if you look at a can of steel cut oatmeal in Publix, 28 oz is over 7 dollars, and I can get a pound of it bulk for $1.19. 2 pounds will last me 2 weeks – noone else eats it everyday like I do).
I buy chicken at Costco – and we tend to eat more whole chickens now. I like white meat, the guys like dark. They also like turkey sausage and turkey dogs – I will eat the sausage but I could easily live without it. But I could give up meat totally. I love beans and eat alot of them.
