The Somersizing Diet Plan

The Somersizing Diet Plan was created by Suzanne Somers. The books she has written on the Somersizing Diet have hit the bestseller lists.

The foundation of the Somersizing Diet Plan centers on food combining, eating the right kind of carbs and good fats. She says that when you consume low gi carbohydrates your blood sugar and insulin will level off; which will allow your body to burn up more fat.

You’ll learn to combine your foods, which entails combining full fat dairy products, vegetables and eating meat together without carbs or fruit. You will be able to eat whole grain products with vegetables but with no dairy or meat. The Somersizing Diet Plan stresses that you should eat fruit by itself with your stomach empty.

The food combining is explained in detail in her book, here’s a summary:

Eliminate funky foods
Eat fruit by itself
Eat proteins and fats with a vegetable
Eat Carbs with vegetables and no fat
Keep proteins and fats separate from carbs
Do not skip meals

The Somersizing Diet Plan provides a food list containing the food that should be avoided. Precise guidelines in the diet literature specifies when to eat, what time to eat and what to eat, and how to successfully use food combining when preparing your meals and planning your recipes.

Basic Eating guidelines for the Somersizing Diet:

Fruits, wait 20 minutes, then have a carb meal.
Fruits, wait 1 hour, then have a protein/fat meal.
Carbo meal, wait 2 hours, and then have have some fruit.
Protein/fat meal, wait 2 hours, then have some fruit
Carbo meal, wait 3 hours, then have a protein/fat meal.
Protein/fat meal, wait 3 hours, then have a carb meal

You can snack on veggies between a carb meal and a protein/fat meal

The Somersizing Diet will take a bit of adjustment. You are permitted to eat certain carbs (as long as they are the right kind) from the first day, as well as all through her diet but be sure you use the correct food combining strategies recommended.

The Somersizing Diet Plan has two stages to follow:

Stage 1 of the Somersizing Diet: The strictest stage of the plan – you must fully combine your foods, and keep away from anything with sugar in it. You’re permitted to use the sweetener made for the Somersizing Diet. Stay away from alcohol and caffeine as well.

Stage 2 of the Somersizing Diet: Not quite as limiting as the first stage of this diet. Once you have hit your target weight, you continue with this stage and maintain, ideally for the rest of your life. There are also slight changes in food combination allowed, you can have some red wine and chocolate if desired.
