Diet and Weight Loss
I was surprised to find this morning when I measured my waist that I lost 1/2 an inch. This is why the diet I’m on is called “waist management” as opposed to weight management. I’ve not lost anything in the way of pounds – I am, however fluctuating wildly up or down 4 lbs- very strange. I’m really not expecting to lose pounds yet.
I’m not starving to death on this diet, as you can tell if you check my food logs. I have had a couple of If-I-don’t-eat-now-I-will-die moments, like yesterday – I didn’t eat from my yogurt snack at around 2:30 pm. The nut mixture I grab a handful of – and only a handful – consists of cashews, walnuts and dried cranberries – eliminates that food or die moment. I didn’t end up eating last nite until almost midnite. It really does help. I never would have believed it.
I’m still having a problem getting the packaged sugar level down lower. I’m not worried about fresh fruit sugar or sugar you get naturally. I’m not supposed to have anything packaged with sugar more than 4 grams. This eliminates all canned fruit, dammit. I’m not a fresh fruit fan. I want to get my sugar intake down to 20 grams or less.
And I’m still having sugar withdrawals.
Any grain products are 100% whole wheat, or whole grain. This entails alot of label reading because labels are misleading, and just because it says whole wheat doesn’t mean it is. Whole wheat pasta is expensive! I’m eating steel cut oats because it isn’t as cut up as rolled oats and is supposed to be better for you.
Exercise so far entails walking. Supposed to walk 30 minutes a day: ain’t happenin yet. I didn’t walk yesterday and time it – but I did walk around the grocery store, and I did not take the path of least resistance like I normally would. And I’m currently on the lookout for an exercise bike or an elliptical machine. I saw one on sale yesterday that was small enough for my apartment.
