Getting Ready For School
School will be starting next week and we’ve been busy getting ready for it. The backpack is all ready to go, stuffed with enough school supplies for the year.
We don’t need to buy clothes this year. I have a slew of shorts that I bought last year that babyboy outgrew the first week. He ended up not wearing uniform shorts all year. This time will be different, and I have a feeling we won’t get away with it. I’ve always dressed him correctly, but last year money was short and to go and buy the kid shorts every week just wouldn’t cut it.
But this year: the shorts all fit or are a tad big, and he even has some he can get into once he drops a few more pounds. If he does that he’ll be back into boys clothes. He’s got enough uniform shirts to last: they’re all in good shape and since it’s his last year at this school, I’m not buying anymore.
And shoes. The kid’s feet are as big as mine!
I’m still considering walking to pick him up from school. It’s about a mile and a half away- one way, and I’m not used to walking, although we went for a walk day before yesterday – it was about 3/4 of a mile all told, and I didn’t see stars when I was done! I had planned on us walking to the school today, but of course it started storming and stormed for the rest of the afternoon. Not only would it do us both good, but it would save gas. My car is a gas hog and uses gas if you even look at it:
Just by looking at this picture, you may be draining the gas tank, lol! But if I were to walk, I could save some serious gas.
