Two Discoveries Today – One Good – One Bad
My first discovery today was weighing in and finding a weight loss of 52 pounds. Whoo Hoo! I love this time of the month, right after my period when the weight loss actually registers instead of staying at one spot for days on end. It’s very frustrating, when I know I’m doing everything right.
To my horror today, I discovered that the ketchup I’ve been using has high fructose corn syrup in it. Not that I use alot,
but I do once in awhile put like a half a tablespoon on peas or corn. Last week, I used it twice. And both days, I had a horrendous headache that lasted hours. (I don’t as a rule get headaches) I didn’t think anything of it until I was reading a website somewhere (can’t remember the site) that was talking about high fructose corn syrup and ketchup.
Ding! A bell went off, and I went and looked at the ketchup bottle and sure enough – there’s the hfcs. I thought it was just that particular bottle – I could have sworn when I started this diet that the bottle we had, had no hfcs.
I was wrong. I went to the store today and looked at the ketchup, and it all has high fructose corn syrup.
Bummer.
But at least I know where the headaches came from. I can’t believe I missed that, but I know why I did. I looked at the sugar – it said 4 grams and off I went.
I now have a bottle of organic ketchup with none of the dreaded high fructose corn syrup in it.
