Create A Support System
Weight loss is a lot easier on you if you have a support system. It can be a motivating factor during those inevitable tough times, and can be a great ego booster when you are succeeding.
How do you create a support system?
Families
Your family should be the first layer of support. As a rule, your family loves you and they are always around, and they cheer for your success. Sometimes, though, family members can be the worst. In that case, seek out the ones who are most supportive of you, and stick with them. Steer clear of the negative people.
Friends
Your friends are next in line. They tend to present challenges: and make you want to succeed. Friends also help you to stay focused on your goals help you to stay focused when the going gets tough. You can also bring your friends along for the ride – many are ready to achieve your same goals.
Online Support
Online support forums, chat rooms and groups are excellent to gain support. Most of them offer tools to track your progress, whether it’s a fitness tracker, food tracker or weight tracker. There are tons of sites out there for weight loss and fitness tracking and programs you can install on your computer for tracking purposes.
Structured Programs
If you’re looking for a weight loss program with structure, Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, South Beach Diet , all offer tools, forums and support access for their dieters. This kind of program can sometimes provide the most benefit; because people from all over the world are going through the same thing you are and can offer advice.
Journaling
Be your own support system! Start a journal and talk to yourself if no one else will listen. Keeping a journal will help to keep you motivated and you can look back on it and realize things aren’t so bad. Journaling can also help you recognize patterns where you tend to struggle. You can use an online journal or write it down on a legal pad, the media you use isn’t as important as doing it.
